Library

Our Library is one of the only dedicated visual art libraries in South Australia

In our library you can browse our collection of more than 5,500 art books, a selection of arts magazines and subscriptions to Oxford Art Online and Very Short Introductions. These resources are available for use by students, staff and alumni, and accessing the ACSA library catalogue doesn’t need a log in. Neither does the Library Research Guide.

Additionally, the School’s holdings are visible via Trove.

  • Library Volunteer: Franklin Holfeld

Borrowing and membership at other libraries

You can borrow and return books using a self-check system that uses the same login and password as our computers/printers. There are guidelines to borrowing, which are available from the library team.

As a student, you can also join the Flinders University Library, University of South Australia Library or the Barr Smith Library at the University of Adelaide as community borrowers. If you are enrolled in Honours or Level 3 Art History & Theory and Studio Practice you will be reimbursed 100% of the cost of membership. Full-time Level 1 and 2 students or part-time students enrolled in Art History & Theory, Contemporary Studio Practice or Professional Studies will be reimbursed 50% of the cost of membership.

More details are available from the library team.

Library Donations

Donations of quality art books are always a welcome addition to the Library, in particular, donations of books on our acquisitions list. Please contact Librarian Catherine Kerrigan or Reception staff regarding possible donations you would like to make!

Library Research Guide

This Guide will help you locate information for your assignments, provide some assistance in writing your assignments, and provide links to useful online resources and tools. There is also a section on practice-led research for third-year and Honours students.

We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and acknowledge their continuing connection to land, water and community.
