Over four weeks, students will be introduced to working from a clothed life model to create portraits in charcoal and oil paint. They will begin learning to draw the portrait in charcoal using observation methods and measuring. The drawing will help inform the oil painting, which will occur over the following sessions. Students will learn to mix skin tones from observation, work alla prima (wet-in-wet) from the model, and refine a painting over multiple sessions. Students will also learn studio safe practises, such as working with low-toxic solvents and mediums.
This course is perfect for teens who are interested in creating portraiture or building skills for their Year 11 and 12 folios.
