Join artist Alex Beckinsale and discover the fundamental drawing and design techniques to create your own unique fantasy and science-fiction characters.
This course will focus on some fun and exciting ways to draw inspiration from popular culture. Looking at different visual styles present in animation, movies and concept art, students will be taken through a range of activities that will spark their imagination and get them to create their own unique artworks and characters.
This course is perfect for beginner to intermediate level students. It will focus on developing technical ability and drawing confidence, equipping students with the necessary skills to create their own successful and creative drawings.
Materials required:
A3 sketchbook, HB, 2B, 4B + 6B graphite pencils, hard eraser, kneadable eraser, charcoal, rag, 2 large + 3 small soft brushes, and 2x A1 pieces of cartridge paper.
Alex Beckinsale is an emerging artist whose work is inspired by strange narratives, folklore, and popular culture. She graduated from Adelaide Central School of Art with a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) in 2016. She focuses on figurative art + portraiture, and often constructs otherworldly and mysterious situations in her work. When she is not making in her studio, Alex can often be found sketching characters from D&D campaigns, her favourite TV shows and video games.
