Level – Beginners
Build up your figurative drawing skills in this exciting new short course. Participants will be taken through step-by-step instructions on how to best construct a figure drawing. From looking at the skeleton to drawing the full figure, and working with gesture and tone, this course will introduce all the skills you need to create captivating drawings of people. Each lesson will consist of multiple exercises and participants will create work and gain valuable drawing experience both from demonstrations and unclothed life models.
Materials required:
A2 sketchbook*, 2B & 4B graphite pencils*, 1 pack of willow charcoal of mixed sizes*, 1 medium 2B charcoal pencil, a hard eraser* and a kneadable eraser*, 8 sheets of A1 butchers paper, 7 sheets of A1 cartridge paper, 1 sheet of A1 CA grain paper, 45cm length of dowel* (5mm diameter), and a rag (or old t-shirt).
*Asterisk indicates the materials that will be required for the first class.

Alex Beckinsale is an emerging artist whose work is inspired by strange narratives, folklore, and popular culture. She graduated from Adelaide Central School of Art with a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) in 2016.
