This course is designed to encourage Year Levels 10 to 12 students to create exciting, imaginative drawings that engage their critical thinking and contribute to the SACE Visual Arts Folio.


Guided by Alex Beckinsale, participants will delve into various drawing techniques while growing their abilities on how to think about, observe, and depict different subject matters through drawing. Students will learn more about composition, form, and visual storytelling and will be encouraged to experiment, test different drawing techniques and draw from their own imagination.


  • Graphite pencils (Mechanical, HB + 2B)
  • Sketchbook (A3 or A4)
  • Erasers (both hard and kneadable)


Alex Beckinsale is an emerging artist whose work is inspired by strange narratives, folklore, and popular culture. She graduated from Adelaide Central School of Art with a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) in 2016. She focuses on figurative art and portraiture, often constructing otherworldly and mysterious situations in her work.
