Term 3 Sculptural Forms in Clay

Level – Beginner onwards

This course is suitable for the beginner, as well as for those with basic clay skills wanting to develop their practice. Over the first 3 weeks participants will explore multiple clay bodies using the techniques of pinch, slab and coil, building a medium scale figure. The second half of the course will be used to expand on those skills, and follow personal direction, with Cassies support. All work will be fired and glazed at the students discretion. Details will be provided on where to fire their work, including glazing notes.



  • Students will need to bring along an apron.
  • Please wear covered shoes.

All other materials will be supplied.


Cassie Thring is a multidisciplinary artist living and working on Kaurna Land. Often working with ceramics, she creates sculptural and functional forms, and runs community workshops that explore the versatility and joy of clay.
