Level – Intermediate

Prior knowledge of working in oils is required for this course.

Are you ready to elevate your skills in oil painting? Throughout history, artists have been captivated by the illusion of tactile folds of fabric and drapery in painting.

This course is for participants who wish to gain knowledge and experience in painting fabric and drapery.

The course begins by looking at historical and contemporary examples to both inform and inspire. This is followed by a series of short technical exercises which focus on form, value and colour transitions to depict realist observations in oils. Participants will complete the course with a refined painting that they will develop in layers over a four week period.

Note- Participants can choose to compose their own source photo to work from (with a fabric focus) for weeks 3-6.
