$345.00 inc. GST

Lecturer: Melaine Brown
Sat 4 May – Sat 15 Jun (excluding 8 Jun)
9.30am – 12.30pm
Level – Beginners

This course introduces a complete beginner to the essential principles and practices of oil painting. It is also suited to participants that have completed Oil Painting Fundamentals previously, as different techniques will be covered. The course includes instruction on materials, methods of paint application and insights into key elements of tone and colour.

Commencing with a monochromatic tonal scale followed by a simple alla prima still life, participants learn to read value, colour as tone whilst sampling brushwork techniques all through direct observation. A colour theory exercise leads into a colour still life, applying indirect painting methods including glazing, paint layering and blending processes.
