This course is designed for those who want to create paintings in the tradition of landscape experiment with various techniques and find a unique expressive voice of their own. Designed for raw beginners and advanced.
Students will look at other artists who have painted landscapes in a broadly expressive way and discuss the significance of representing space and relationship to space.
Students are encouraged to paint large scale and multiple works.

Daniel Connell was awarded a PhD from the University of South Australia in 2020. His research explores portraiture as a socially engaged practice. His work has been selected for the Lester Prize, the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, Fleurieu Art Prize and the Kochi Muziris Biennale of Contemporary Art in India. He has worked on public art projects both nationally and in Birmingham, Vancouver and throughout India. Daniel has delivered a TEDX talk ‘How art teaches you to approach the unfamiliar” in Ubud in May 2018.
