The Graduate Exhibition is Adelaide Central School of Art’s most important annual event. The 2017 Graduate Exhibition (9 – 22 December) will present a significant body of works from our 30 graduating Bachelor of Visual Art [Honours] and Bachelor of Visual Art students.
The Exhibition is an opportunity for these students to present their work to the public, in many cases,
for the first time. It will include over 250 works in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed-media works, installation, textiles, film, ceramics, performance and photography.
The Adelaide Central School of Art Graduate Exhibition is renowned for being professionally presented and carefully curated in a beautiful setting; it takes over the entire award-winning heritage campus and Adelaide Central Gallery. The School also arranges for the students’ work to be photographed and produces a glossy perfect-bound catalogue to accompany the exhibition (also available to view online).
The 2017 Graduate Exhibition is an excellent opportunity for audiences to view emerging trends in art, as well as contemporary ideas, presented by some of Australia’s most exciting new talent. Furthermore, most works are for sale (and modestly priced), so attending is a brilliant way to add to your art collection and support artists at the commencement of their careers.
“The 2017 Graduate Exhibition represents a cohort of exciting, engaged students who are curious about the world and equipped with skills to embark on careers as professional practising artists,” says the School’s CEO, Ingrid Kellenbach. “This event marks a significant transition in their careers. I encourage everyone to visit during the exhibition period.”
The opening event will be held on Saturday 9 December from 4pm – 6pm. Professor Barbara Bolt, practising artist, art theorist and Professor in Contemporary Arts and Culture at the Victorian College of Arts (University of Melbourne), will open the exhibition and co-present the Awards for Excellence.
