Drastic Fabric

Drastic Fabric

Drastic Fabric

Drastic Fabric draws together a range of diverse and innovative textile practices to create an exhibition which considers the power of cloth and material to convey ideas that are both deeply personal, and resonantly universal. Four South Australian practitioners, Elizabeth Jenner, Carly Snoswell, Henry Jock Walker, and Sera Waters, come together to demonstrate the versatility and invention of textile practice in this state.

From works that utilise traditional techniques to preserve essential knowledge in the face of existential threat, to messages of devotion laboriously adorned with jewel-like splendour, Drastic Fabric is a varied and exciting experience. Strange materials, including copper thread and neoprene, are utilised in original ways. Throughout the run of the exhibition, audiences will be invited to contribute to a participatory  work, stitching their own strategies for the future into a vital community project.
