Melanie Brown

Lecturer, Painting and Drawing

She/her

Melanie Brown received her Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) in 2008 from Adelaide Central School of Art and has won several scholarships including the Alumni Award during her studies.

Melanie was the recipient of our Alumni Award and several other scholarships in recognition of her outstanding achievement during her Bachelor of Visual Art and Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) degrees.

Her realist, figurative works present the viewer with alternate ways of experiencing the body, evoking notions of self-creation, beauty, fearlessness, risk, power and multiple femininities. She plays with visual codes in work that questions and flaunts conventional representations of gender definition.

In 2008 Melanie won the Cliftons Art Prize and in 2010 received the Golden Key for studies in Diploma of Education (Double Art). Melanie has exhibited in numerous group shows including the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival and has received corporate and private commissions both locally and overseas.
