She is a recent PhD graduate of the University of Adelaide, completing an Art History thesis entitled ‘Investigating the Aesthetic Character of Australian Urban Indigenous Art: A Socio-Political Fusion’. Her area of research and approach to teaching centers on contemporary Australian art, particularly Indigenous voices and perspectives and how these decolonise art, history, and the broader Australian socio-political milieu.

Nerina’s major research projects have centred on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Collection at the Flinders University Art Museum, and South Australian Artists at the Art Gallery of South Australia, commissioned for Design & Art Australia online.

She holds a Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) (2000), from the South Australian School of Art, University of South Australia, and a Master of Arts (Art History) (2005), from the University of Adelaide in conjunction with the Art Gallery of South Australia. Nerina is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide.
